Unless you have a cold, black heart, you don’t want to see the dream of a happy marriage die.
We really hope, before you start the OurDivorce process, that you determine if your marriage is the problem, or if there are alternatives to divorce.
If your marriage can be a happy one, shouldn’t you do all you reasonably can to save it?
Will divorce simply throw you out of the frying pan and into the fire?
Unless divorce is a matter of life and death or maintaining your physical safety, try marriage counseling.
. . . even if you don’t want to (or think that marriage counseling or therapy won’t work).
Really. You owe it to yourself and to your spouse to try. Don’t wonder what might have been.
Regardless of whether your spouse agrees to marriage counseling, try personal counseling or therapy for yourself too. It’s not that expensive (your insurance may even cover it). Many churches and other religious organizations provide free counseling, or at least a free listening ear. It’s private and confidential. It cannot be used against you in court.
Even if you believe that counseling of therapy are stupid ideas that won’t work, aren’t they at least worth a try before you take the drastic step of divorce? If divorce can be avoided and your marriage saved with some counseling or therapy, you’d be a fool not to give it a try.
You have nothing to lose.
Do it. You won’t regret it. What you will regret is not giving your marriage every chance.
OurDivorce wants to help make your divorce as easy and painless as possible, but only after you’ve exhausted every possible remedy.
